 Yes, Bruce realises that it amounts to flagrant self-promotion for the band in which he plays to be booked for a second time in 2013, but he begs to be excused on the grounds that it would be difficult to find a jollier bunch than the High Society for this         festive occasion.   Most of you already know what the band has to offer – a mix of light-hearted songs, the odd tricky arrangement, and a good dollop of hot jazz in 20s and 30s style – but if you haven’t heard the group before this could be a good time to start, because you’ll experience the unmissable extra of a mince pie to accompany your interval glass of wine. There may even be the odd Christmas song (and we know some very odd ones), but we’ve refused the offer of Santa costumes from the theatre’s wardrobe on the grounds that, so close to Christmas, the band may well be too corpulent.
