Based on a true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for The Leukaemia Research Fund,Calendar Girls opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has since become the fastest selling play in British theatre history. Although it tackles a difficult subject, Calendar Girls is an uplifting play and is at the same time quirky, heart-warming and hilarious. Full of poignant moments, it’s about friendship, determination and hope. It is about very ordinary women who do something quite extraordinary, brave and inspirational when faced with loss. With actors from both groups and directed by Fliss Pocock, this will probably be your last chance for a while to see this play performed by an amateur group as the performing rights expire at the end of February. Whether it makes you laugh or cry I am sure it will leave you feeling better about life than you did when you entered the theatre! Tickets £10 pay cash on the door!
