The sharp-eyed among you (that's everybody, then) will have spotted that on his annual visit this year Steve is bringing 5 people rather than 4.The extra man is superb Tyneside guitarist and singer Roly Veitch who has worked on many occasions both with Steve and also our favourite nonagenarian pianist Tim Belford. Joining Steve, Tim and Roly will be expat bassist Roy Cansdale who is travelling up from Gloucestershire specially for this gig. Regular drummer Brian Teagle makes up the five.
For the uninitiated, Steve is probably the premier jazz reedman in the North, playing tenor and alto saxes plus clarinet, and his special rapport with the rest of the band means that you're assured of an evening full of swing and surprises – oh, and also wit: Steve's dry humour puts him in demand as a compere with other bands, and Tim has been known to join in to make it a double act. This is guaranteed to be a very special evening.
