The Christmas Party slot having been taken by some Eminent Victorians, the Roundhouse thought that it was incumbent on us to try to lighten the mood of those dark mid-January days which so inevitably follow the festive season. So, as an alternative to the traditional pastime of holiday-brochure-perusing, why not try a very much more reasonable trip to the Roundhouse. The band are regular visitors to Staveley: unsurprising, perhaps, given that committee member Bruce Carnaffin (a firm believer in self-interest and nepotism) forms part of it. They are however, one of the leading traditional jazz bands in the North-West (add self-promotion to that list), and can be relied on to provide a varied, toe-tapping and warmly humorous programme. What's more, they have of late roused themselves from the torpor customary in gentlemen of their age to do some rehearsing, so you are promised some new material alongside the old favourites.
